The day has come were the coffee cup recycling bins have been put on UON's campus!! This is really exciting for us students as we have been working towards this for a whole term for it to finally happen!
How does the the bin work you ask? WELL
There are 4 different parts of the bin, one hole for the cup, one for the liquid, one for the lids, and one for the straws. The reason why theres different parts to the bin is to stop contamination (mentioned in a previous post) so the coffee cups can actually be recycled instead of going to a landfill! This is a way to help our planet last longer as us humans, we create a lot of waste so we may as well recycle and not contaminate where we can!
Above is a video of my friend Lorraine showing everyone how to use the bins.
Also, our mascot Cuppy was at the launch! Cuppy had a great time at the launch showing everyone how to use the bins. He was also very popular with the children visiting our uni as you can see from the photo.
Cuppy asks, if you see one of these bins on campus, pls pls pls make sure you put everything in the right compartment to stop contamination!
Chloe :)
